Project outline

During the spring semester 2014 a study was conducted in cooperation with Opel at the Technical University of Berlin focussing on operating concepts of infotainment systems in the automotive sector. In the course of this study existing operating concepts were identified and relevant usability and user experience factors were determined by means of a literary research and expert interviews. Using specific tasks operating concepts were then rated with respect to the previously extracted factors. Additionally, the usability and user experience factors were subjectively weighted by 116 individuals using an online-survey covering all ages. The evaluation of the survey revealed that especially usability factors were most important to the users. The four highest-rated factors were trust, efficiency, intuitivity, and clearness. Conclusively, the scores from the survey and the rated operating concepts were brought together giving an overview on the different concepts? support to the user solving specific tasks.
